Baltimore-Chesapeake Rugby Football Club
Player Profile

Full Name: Jason Powell
Nickname: The Corporal, Swingline
Birthplace: Allentown, PA
Birthdate: 9/3/74
Occupation: Manager at Fidelity Investments
Marital status: Married to Ann Marie (hottest, coolest, smartest, most caring and understanding chick on planet)
College: Juniata (and it's not Juanita)
Years playing: 14
Positions: 8, Flanker, Lock
Previous clubs: PAC, St. Peters (Wales), Juniata College, Hokusei Gakuen (Japan)
Why you started playing: My older brother had in college, and he said it was fun. Got into it primarily as a party sport in college and then learned how great the game actually was

Favorite International team: Wales
Favorite players: Matt Giteau, Sebastian Chabal, Jonah Lomu, Schalk Burger
Biggest influence in rugby: John Moss, Dick Golledge (made me realize there's much more to rugby than what happens on the field)
Best memory in rugby: Fall of 98 with Baltimore (my first season with the club; we were terrible, but I had just moved to town and knew no one, and met some great guys I still know today); Saranac tours with Nelsen (including visits to the Turning Stone and Saratoga); 2006 Copenhagen Tour; Winning 2005 NASC with MARFU; playing in NA4; all the places I've been and people I've met because of rugby
Biggest disappointment in rugby: Losing to Mystic this year in CR4 playoffs (and that's not just cause it's fresh in my memory); not getting an Eagle cap in my younger days
Favorite post-match ritual: Strategically inserting cell phones in hot dog buns and then placing in the secret compartment at Mums; then retrieving hot dog buns weeks later and engaging in stale bun wars
Favorite Baltimore Bar: Honestly, do you have to ask?
Favorite Beer: Can Evel be considered a beer?

Other sports: Basketball, Golf, watching Football
Favorite books: Too Fat to Fish by Artie Lange; Fourth and One by Joe Gibbs
Favorite films: Anchorman, Shawshank Redemption
Favorite quotes: "The joy of positive suffering - because if something is easy, you will not really enjoy it" - Krzysztof Wielicki, Polish mountaineer (crazy guy along with other Pole climbers who always try to climb Everest in the middle of winter; but a great quote that can be related to a tough rugby game).
